Amari Cooper is a 6 foot 2 190 lb Wide Receiver from Miami, FL. He is a true freshman this year, and while receivers usually do not step foot on campus and play much right away under Saban (Julio Jones was the last one to do so), Amari has been personally praised by Saban this week for being consistent and working hard and some of the other players and onlookers have pointed him out as a guy who is an immediate impact player type. He was a 4 star prospect who could've gone anywhere.
I remember when Amari committed back in September. It was the Thursday before the Arkansas game. I actually remember this. That's how much I love this kid and was excited about him coming to Bama. On his Scout.com profile, it states that his strengths are body control, hands, and size. Those are natural talents that you can't teach. His only single solitary weakness listed? Strength.
Scott Cochran will take care of that part
Above are some highlights of Amari at Miami's Northwestern High School last year. It's really significant that Saban was able to get a player from that school to come to Tuscaloosa. Every top player from that school always goes to the Hurricanes
You can expect Amari to see the field this year, and show flashes of the star receiver that I believe he will be for us over the next few seasons
"Cooper has a knack for finding the cracks in a coverage and using his body to shield a defender that should have been in position to make a play. He has sticky hands and long arms and is an excellent target in tight coverage. He has quick hands that helps him beat the press or get his hands ready for a catch after infighting with a defender. Will only improve as he spends time in the weight room" - Scott Kennedy, Scout.com
"Amari Cooper = Future pain in our ass" - LSU fan on Tiger Droppings
